WaZoo Beer Fest, recognized as one of the “10 Great Beer Festivals in the Country” by USA Today, returns Saturday, August 4 from 7:30-10:30 p.m. at Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo, presented by J.J. Taylor Distributing Florida, Inc. Following last year’s record attendance, the VIP area known as The Blue Moon® Beastly Beverage Club (BBC), has expanded into the large adjacent outdoor courtyard adjacent to the Safari Lodge.
Also new this year, the good times will flow into a special events area near the Love Garden to accommodate more guests and more tasting tables, more comfortably. The World of Beer Main Stage has relocated from the Zoo’s front entry plaza to this entertainment area to ensure a smoother flow of foot traffic during the event.
The all-inclusive tickets cover more than 280 types of beer from more than 80 breweries worldwide. Beer aficionados can go on a sampling safari of brews including lagers, porters, stouts, browns, ambers, wheats, ales, ciders, pilsners, draughts and more from international and independent brewers.
To complement the suds, guests can graze on sure-to-please snacks and pub-friendly finger foods from 20 favorite local eateries like Beef ‘O’ Brady’s, Datz Deli, IKEA Tampa restaurant, Tijuana Flats, Tampa Bay Brewing Company, Whole Foods Market and more. For entertainment, guests can groove to great live music from local artists presented by
World of Beer.
Headliner One Mile Final with special guest Early Morning Project will rock the World of Beer Main Stage. Additional artists The Paper Stanleys, Kim Harpo and The Hawks, and Mainstream Band (BBC) will add to the entertainment.
Attend this wilder breed of beer fest with several thousand of your closest friends who support the Zoo. Event proceeds benefit animal care and education programs at Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo, a private nonprofit organization.
The Zoo gratefully acknowledges presenting sponsor J.J. Taylor Distributing Florida, Inc., BBC host Blue Moon Brewing Company, and entertainment sponsor World of Beer, as well as additional sponsors who make this event possible: Ryder Truck Rental, Cintas, Pepsi, J.P. Tickets are available online at LowryParkZoo.com or by phone 813-935-8552 ext. 276 in advance, or at the door the night of the event. General admission tickets are $60 in advance or $65 at the door the night of the event. Group discounts available for 20 tickets or more.
Designated driver tickets are also available; The Zoo partners with United Cab Company to encourage responsible consumption. Following the event, United will offer free, safe rides home in Hillsborough County. Event guests must be going to a residence or lodging within Hillsborough County. (The cab driver will not take passengers to other events, restaurants or bars for free). United cabs can be reserved by calling a designated number in the event program at WaZoo. Cars left overnight are parked at the owner’s risk.
The Zoo will close at 4 p.m. August 4 for set up of WaZoo, which takes place rain or shine. Animals are not on exhibit during the event. Due to the nature of the event and number of guests in attendance, strollers are not permitted. For more, visit the WaZoo web site or WaZoo Facebook page.
